Kayla practices in RCO Law's Litigation Practice Group with an emphasis in representing healthcare providers and institutions defending medical malpractice and professional liability claims ranging from emergency medicine, surgical, and primary care to radiology, cardiology, and obstetrical birth-injury claims. Kayla also represents clients in commercial litigation, and assists clients in the healthcare field navigate investigations, regulatory issues, and other compliance issues.
Her experience ranges from pre-suit investigations, jury trials through verdict, and appellate review up to the Supreme Court. Hands-on trial practice allows Kayla to give clients advice that can only be developed from courtroom experience. She regularly presents to groups on issues healthcare providers grapple with to provide continuing education, raise awareness on legal issues, and help guide policy and decision making.
Kayla is admitted to practice in Ohio and Michigan, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and the Sixth District Court of Appeals.
Active in her profession, she is president of The Toledo Clinic Board of Directors; Northwest Ohio representative on the Board of Directors for the Society for Ohio Healthcare Attorneys; a member of the Board of Trustees with the Toledo Bar Association, and a leader in the TBA Doctors & Lawyers Committee and TBA Common Pleas Court Committee.
She is a graduate of Leadership Toledo, the Ohio State Bar Association Leadership Academy, and the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce EPIC Board Accelerator Series.
