Fitzpatrick to Host Estate Planning Signing Meetings for New Habitat Homeowners

October 31, 2022

Wealth Preservation and Estate Planning Attorney Marissa K. Fitzpatrick will be hosting Estate Planning Signing Meetings for Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity families on Tuesday, November 1, and on Wednesday November 2 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Habitat for Humanity offices located at 1310 Conant Street, Maumee. This is a free service available to future homeowners through the Habitat program.

In the weeks prior to these meetings, Marissa gave a presentation to all the future homeowners on the importance of Estate Planning.

This is the second year that Marissa has worked with Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity’s new homeowners. In August 2021, she drafted wills and estate plans pro bono for Habitat families.

According to Marissa, a will and estate plan are first steps in achieving financial security for new homeowners who may not have prioritized or acknowledged the need for these legal documents. Estate plans include lifetime planning or legacy planning where assets are transferred at death.

Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity has built homes for 230 families in northwest Ohio with the help of approximately 1,300 volunteers.
