Firm Welcomes New Partner, Three Associates and Paralegal

RCO Law announces that Attorney Marissa K. Fitzpatrick has been elected to the Firm's partnership, effective January 1, 2025. Marissa practices in the areas of Estate Planning, Wealth Preservation, and business succession planning.

According to RCO Law Managing Partner Peter N. Lavalette, “Marissa has demonstrated a depth of knowledge in her field and a solid commitment to her Estate Planning practice, expanding the Firm’s capabilities in assisting individuals and businesses manage the transfer of wealth and other assets, along with other aspects of end-of-life planning. She has also generously shared her leadership and technical skills with a number of nonprofit community organizations. She is a solid addition to our partnership and her new status is well-earned."

A native of Toledo, Marissa has been with RCO Law for five years. She is a 2015 graduate of The University of Toledo College of Law. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio University, Athens, in 2012.

Marissa is admitted to practice law in Ohio and Michigan.

Marissa serves as the president of the Genacross Lutheran Services Foundation Board and is the chairman of the Development Committee. She is a trustee on the Maumee Chamber of Commerce Board. In 2021 she was recognized for her volunteer work by the Ohio State Bar Foundation and received its Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under.

New Associates

Three new associates joined the Firm this past September. Sarah T. Knepp, Sarah E. Gardner, and Chloe R. McCammon serve clients in the Toledo Office.

Sarah Gardner

Sarah E. Gardner is an associate attorney who supports a wide range of clients in the Healthcare, Employment & Labor, and Litigation Practice Groups. Before joining RCO Law in 2024, she served two years as a clerk for the Honorable James R. Knepp II in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Toledo.

Sarah earned her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Michigan Law School in 2022 and served as an editor for the Journal of Law Reform and the Journal of Law & Society. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism in 2019.

She is admitted to practice law in Ohio.

Sarah is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Toledo Bar Association, and Toledo Women's Bar Association.

Sarah T. Knepp

Sarah T. Knepp

Sarah T. Knepp is an associate attorney supporting the Firm’s Business & Corporate, Labor & Employment, and Litigation Practice Groups. She assists clients with case management, research, and drafting legal documents. Sarah is a second-generation lawyer to practice at RCO Law.

Sarah was a Summer Associate for RCO Law in 2022 and worked throughout her third year (3L) while a student at The University of Toledo College of Law. After graduating magna cum laude with a J.D. in May 2023, Sarah spent the first year of her legal career clerking for the Honorable Michael J. Newman in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, Dayton.

Prior to law school, Sarah worked for the Ohio State Legislature, first as a fellow for the Ohio Legislative Service Commission, and then as a legislative aide and senior legislative aide to a state senator.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Journalism, cum laude, from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.

Sarah is admitted to practice law in Ohio.

Sarah is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Toledo Bar Association.

Chloe R. McCammon

Chloe R. McCammon

Chloe R. McCammon is an associate attorney supporting the Business & Corporate and Estate Planning & Wealth Preservation Practice Groups.

Chloe is a 2024 summa cum laude graduate of The University of Toledo College of Law where she was a member of the Order of the Coif, a national honor society that recognizes law school graduates who excel in scholarship.

A native of Toledo, Chloe earned her undergraduate degree from The University of Toledo where she majored in Political Science and Spanish.

Chloe is admitted to practice law in Ohio.

She is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Toledo Bar Association.

Patricia R. Koehler

Patricia R. Koehler was recently promoted to paralegal working in the Firm’s Findlay offices. Patty demonstrated a keen interest in advancing her career with on-the-job training while earning her paralegal certificate in 2024. Patty began her legal career with RCO Law, Findlay, as an administrative assistant in 2021.

Patty excels at building client relationships and assisting attorneys with a range of responsibilities. She collaborates with attorneys supporting clients in the Estate Planning & Wealth Preservation, and Business & Corporate Practice Groups.
